The Roberts Lady Rockets took on the Absarokee Lady Huskies on Friday in the second round. On the brink of elimination after losing to the second ranked Broadview/Lavina Pirates, the Rockets would play a well-fought game.
The Rockets earned a slim 10-7 lead in the 1st quar t e r, l ed by Dani Nardinger who led all scorers with 12 points.
However, in the 2nd quarter, the Rockets really struggled to find their offensive rhythm, only scoring 4 points. With the Rockets struggling, the Huskies were able to take advantage and go into halftime with an 18-14 lead.
The second half was nerve wrecking for all players and fans involved. The Rockets and Huskies would have multiple lead changes throughout the half. Going into the final seconds of the game, the Rockets were unable to increase their lead at the charity stripe and the Huskies took advantage. The Huskies went up by one point with just under 10 seconds to go, giving the Rockets one last chance.
Coming out of the timeout, the Huskies stepped up on defense, and didn’t allow the Rockets to get off a final shot. The Huskies won by the final score of 38-37.
