To the Residents of Carbon County,
It is with sincere appreciation that I write this letter. As many of you know my daughter Zoe and I were in a tragic car accident on our way home to Red Lodge on Dec. 11. Following the accident Zoe was transferred to The Denver Children’s Hospital. Unfortunately, she subsequently passed away as a result of her severe injuries. Her death has devastated us. The pain and sorrow that Eric and I feel from her loss is unimaginable.
The outpouring of love and support that we have received from this community has been nothing short of amazing. It was so heartening to see pictures and hear stories from the candlelight vigil on Dec. 15 and the “1,000 Cranes” project on Jan. 4. Friends came together to build a wheelchair ramp and reorganize our house to accommodate our homecoming. The snow was plowed from our driveway numerous times. Cards and wonderful meals have poured into our home. The medical community here and in Billings has gone to extreme lengths to meet our needs. The offers of help and kind words of sympathy have been non-stop.
Zoe was a wonderful and kind little girl. Our time with her was far to brief. We are proud that she could be part of this community and are so thankful to all those who have kept us in their hearts during this difficult time.
Sincerely, Deirdre McNamer and Eric Kern The Carbon County News encourages letters. Writers Red Lodge
