A blue light ceremony was held at Lions Park prior to the Christmas Stroll last week to remember Peace Officers killed in the line of duty. Presenting the ceremony was Dennis Kramer of Montana C.O.P.S, a non -profit organization providing services for survivors of law enforcement officers fallen in the line of duty. Kramer’s son, an officer from West Yellowstone, was killed in a traffic accident in 2006. The MT chapter of National COPS has been formed since Sept 2010. C.O.P.S. provides training to law enforcement agencies on survivor victimization issues and educates the public of the need to support the law enforcement and its survivors. “It is a way to remind people that law enforcement is around 24 hours a day, 7 days a week,” said Kramer. “The organization asks for you to put a blue light in a window to remember fallen officers.” Kramer thanked both the Red Lodge City Police Department and the Carbon County Sheriff’s Department for inviting him as well as the Carbon County Arts Guild for providing electricity for the lights.
