Loop of the Rocky Fork Trail at the 4th Annual

Red Lodge Turkey Trot.

The 4th Annual Turkey Trot was held on Thanksgiving morning, Nov. 28. A crowd of approximately 150 people turned out for the casual 5k walk/run. The event was sponsored by Carbon County Tobacco Prevention Program, a service of Beartooth Billings Clinic as a celebration of the Great American Smokeout. Beartooth’s Tobacco Prevention Specialist, Jean Atherly, coordinated the event, with volunteer assistance from Bill Foisy and Bill Zander, Beartooth Recreational Trails Association (BRTA) members. The American Cancer Society marks the Great American Smokeout on the third Thursday of November each year by encouraging smokers to use the date to make a plan to quit, or to plan in advance and quit smoking that day. By quitting — even for one day — smokers will be taking an important step towards a healthier life – one that can lead to reducing cancer risk. If you or someone you know would like to kick the nicotine habit, start by calling the Montana Quit Line, 1-800-QUIT-NOW (1-800-784-8669).
