Adrian Edwards shoots on goal

in the first half against Livingston.

Red Lodge U18 Soccer played Livingston U18 and Big Timber U19 on Saturday in Big Timber. Red Lodge lost to Livingston in game one of the double header by 2 - 1. This non-league game featured outstanding defense by both teams. However, Livingston went up 2-0 just before half giving Red Lodge a huge task for the second half. Mid-way through the second half Adrian Edwards received a clever up-field pass from Logan Beck. Edwards’ precise footwork past a defender sent a ball past Livingston’s goalkeeper for Red Lodge’s only goal. Red Lodge defense led by Sam Posey, Joe Lemoine, Michael Jacobsen and Cole Daily kept Livingston scoreless in the second half.

The story of the second game against Big Timber/Columbus was snow. In a stingy game of defense and a great goal keeping effort by Red Lodge’s Charley Vandewark, half time was scoreless. A late goal by Big Timber in the last 20 minutes of play would be the difference in the game as snow piled on the field. Coaches Paul Beck and John Milligan were pleased with the team’s effort. For the second week, Red Lodge played two games with a minimal roster and just one substitute. Red Lodge plays Laurel and Sidney next week in Billings in two league games. Red Lodge expects to have a nearly full roster available for play for the first time of the season.
