Linda Harris received the 2013 of the Dr. Ben Karas Service Award at the Beartooth Billings Clinic’s Annual Report to the Community at the Pollard Hotel Pub on Tuesday. Presenting the award were Steve Muth, President of the Memorial Hospital Association, and Kelley Evans, CEO of Beartooth Billings Clinic. Harris received a photograph of the Beartooths by Merv Coleman. Harris joined the Governing Board of Directors in 2000, first for the Beartooth Hospital and Health Center, and then for the Beartooth Billings Clinic, as the Chair of the Finance Committee. In presenting the award Muth said that Harris helped to lead the way for the “agreement that outlines this partnership and relationship we have today with Billings Clinic.” The Karas Service Award was created by the Memorial Hospital Association in memory of Dr. Benjamin Karas who dedicated his life to rural health care in Carbon County from 1957 until 1993. It is awarded to someone who shows exceptional service in sustaining or promoting health care in the community. More on the annual report and other awards next week.
