Andrew George Frankovic
Andrew George Frankovic, 99, of Harrisburg, Pa., passed away Feb. 7, 2014. He was a retired employee of the Department of Health, Education and Welfare. Andrew was born in Washoe, on Oct 29, 1914. He graduated from Carbon County High School in Red Lodge, Class of 1933.
After graduation, he worked various jobs and for the NYA, the youth branch of the WPA. In Nov. 1936, Andy was offered a job in Washington, D.C. after passing the state Civil Service exam. He served in the D.C. National Guard. In 1940, he graduated from Columbus University and was assigned to the Bureau of Auditing. He was transferred to Harrisburg, Pa., where he met Agnes Berk. They were married on Feb. 26, 1946 in Harrisburg. Agnes passed away in June 2003. Andy was inducted into the Army in Sept. 1943. He shipped out to New Guinea, the Philippines and finally to Kyoto, Japan. While in the Pacific, he was able to meet up with his brother, Rudie in Leyte, Philippines. He was discharged in Jan 1946. Andy and Agnes made their home in Harrisburg and on Cape Cod.
He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed returning to Red Lodge, and Buffalo, Wyo., to fish and to see family in Billings, and Spokane, Wash. Andrew was a member of the American Legion, 4th Degree Knights of Columbus; past Faithful Navigator and the Izaak Walton League.
He is survived by his brother, Rudie Frankovic, 93, of Buffalo, Wyo., and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Sofie and John Frankovic and ten siblings.
